Curro Online is a fully online school that brings the trusted Curro education to the home of primary and high school learners across South Africa and abroad. In our hands, your child attends school, completes tasks, takes breaks, makes friends – all from the calm comfort of home.

Is online learning meant for my child?
Curro Online is the right choice for your family if the following rings true:

What does Curro Online do?
We don’t record and go – we teach live, in real time, with passion.
All our classes take place through live lessons with teachers, which means that you don’t need to do any teaching yourself. Learners have to keep their camera on at all times so that teachers can talk to them, answer questions and notice when their attention wavers. Lessons are recorded so that learners can refer back to them for homework or revision – and, yes, so that they who were absent can easily catch up on the work.
Our daily timetable works just like any other– complete with breaks and school holidays – and, since everything is online, your child can continue to learn from home without disruption even if your family needs to travel or emigrate. Our learners write the IEB exams at the end of Grade 12 at your nearest South African Curro school building, and we create many opportunities for learners to socialise and relax with their classmates outside of class times. Your child might be learning from home, but they will never be alone.

Where is the learning material?
Our learners work with textbooks as well as e-books, kits and other resources. All digital material is available online via our learning platform, along with the recordings of the live lessons with teachers. Learners may use these during revision or to catch up if they missed a class. However, these recordings are not meant to be a full-time substitute if your family’s living arrangements allow class regular attendance.
Assignments and examinations are conducted online in a manner that ensures authenticity and honesty. As an online school, teachers remain closely involved in the process and provide the same level of personalised feedback that learners would have received in an in-class environment.

Will anyone monitor my child’s attendance?
Yes, definitely – even your Grade 5 child is safe with us. Learners are required to keep their cameras on at all times for teachers to monitor attendance and make sure they stay focused. Our teachers can track each learner’s progress to see whether they struggle or where they might need help. We will reach out to you should your child’s attendance become cause for concern.

Can I enrol my child at Curro Online if I live abroad?
Absolutely. We are a fully online school, which means we can welcome learners outside of South Africa. As all classes are live and recorded, your child can stay on track even if you live in another time zone – or even while your family is actively emigrating. Our approach accommodates a seamless transition from one learning space to another, and our teachers remain available for questions through direct message on our learning platform.
Keep in mind that learners need write the IEB exams at the end of Grade 12 at your nearest South African IEB Curro school building. You would need to make travel arrangements in advance.

Will my child make friends?
Oh yes. Even though they learn from home, they will never be alone. We encourage learners to reach out to one another during and after class, to form study groups and join the many clubs and activities we offer. Our learners have built lasting friendships through gaming and other digital activities, and even started visiting each other when they live nearby. We also have several clubs and societies for learners to join and arrange family meet-ups and other opportunities for learners to gather. We even plan a matric dance!

Can my child pursue their sports and cultural activities?
Yes, definitely. Learners who already excel in sports or cultural activities can travel and compete in meets without missing any school! That is one of the many ways we accommodate you! Learners can attend live lessons when possible and watch the recordings of lessons missed when they are able to. Also, even during times of travel, they can still reach out to their teachers for assistance.

With our excellent online learning platform, subject-specialist teachers who teach with heart, a warm and inclusive community, and small class sizes that allow for personal attention, Curro Online is more than just a school – it’s a place where your child can thrive.
