Curro Soshanguve footballer selected for international Tximist Cup in Spain

An international football opportunity awaits Curro Soshanguve learner Onkarabile Ramoganya after her selection for the 2026 Tximist Cup in Spain, a tournament that brought together some of the strongest youth teams in women's football.

The Grade 12 learner has travelled to Hondarribia in the Basque region of Spain, where the competition has been scheduled to take place recently.

From local tournament to international stage

Onkarabile's selection followed her performances at the Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament, a development platform that identifies emerging football talent and creates opportunities for young players to advance within the sport.

Her displays at the tournament drew attention to her ability and potential, opening the door to an international experience that will see her compete in an environment shaped by elite youth football.

'Her performance there highlighted her skill, consistency, and potential, leading to this exciting international opportunity,' the school said.

A tournament featuring global football names

The Tximist Cup is recognised as one of the leading international youth tournaments in the women's game. Teams from major clubs across Europe are expected to participate, including sides associated with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sporting CP and VfL Wolfsburg.

The event provides young players with exposure to different playing styles, high-level competition and the culture of international football.

For Onkarabile, the tournament represents an opportunity to test herself against talented players from around the world while gaining experience beyond South African borders.

Building a pathway through support and mentorship

The school highlighted the role played by Coach Kele in Onkarabile's development, pointing to the impact of consistent guidance and mentorship throughout her football journey.

'Her development has been further strengthened by the guidance of Coach Kele, whose dedication to training and mentorship has played a crucial role in her growth as an athlete,' the school said.

Onkarabile's selection illustrates how school sport, community tournaments and committed coaching can work together to create pathways for young athletes.
