Curro Mahikeng gymnast Kosigadi wins national bronze

National bronze for Curro Mahikeng gymnast Kosigadi

Two national finals in Bellville brought a bronze medal and a fourth-place finish for Curro Mahikeng Grade 3 learner Kosigadi Gogontle Mogotsi.

Representing North West at the 2026 Gymnastics South Africa National Championships, Kosigadi competed in both Double Mini Trampoline and Euro Trampoline. She finished third nationally in Double Mini Trampoline and narrowly missed a second podium with fourth place in Euro Trampoline.

The trampoline championships took place at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town in September as part of Gymnastics South Africa’s wider national championships.

Curro Mahikeng says, ‘We are incredibly proud of Kosigadi for representing her province with distinction and for achieving such success at a national level.’

Two very different tests

Kosigadi’s medal came in Double Mini Trampoline, a discipline that starts with a run towards a smaller trampoline apparatus.

Gymnasts use its angled and flat sections to complete two aerial elements before landing on the mat beyond it. The event combines speed with control in the air and on landing.

She also competed in Euro Trampoline, the terminology Gymnastics South Africa uses for competition on the large trampoline apparatus. Euro Trampoline uses the large trampoline apparatus for structured routines. At international level, judging considers factors such as execution, difficulty and control of the gymnast’s position on the trampoline.

Representing North West on the national stage

The Bellville competition formed one part of a national championship programme spread across three provinces.

Gymnastics South Africa staged eight disciplines during the championships. Bellville hosted the trampoline competition as part of championships that brought gymnasts, coaches and officials from around the country.

Kosigadi travelled there as a North West representative, giving her Grade 3 year a national competition experience in two disciplines.
