Western Cape's Curro Schools Join Voices for Choir Festival

Several of Curro's schools across the Western Cape joined their voices during a night of musical unity held at Curro Durbanville on Wednesday, 16 August. Each school's choir sang their hearts out, and the evening ended in an exceptional showcase when all the choirs joined together to serenade the audience.

The choirs transformed the evening into a harmonious journey through various musical genres. The selection of enchanting songs, thoughtfully curated to showcase the diversity of talents among the participating schools, resonated with the audience and elicited resounding applause. Participating schools included Curro schools from Brackenfell, Burgundy, Century City, Durbanville (host), Langebaan, Mossel Bay and Somerset West.

The heartwarming camaraderie between the choirs reached its pinnacle during the grand finale, where learners from all the participating schools joined their voices to create a massive and unforgettable ensemble. The sight and sound of learners harmonizing to create a single, awe-inspiring choir left a lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to witness the spectacle.

"This festival is a testament to the shared passion for music and the collaborative spirit that thrives within the Curro schools community," commented Riaan Stroebel, Executive Head of Curro Durbanville. "The dedication and hard work of our learners have truly paid off in the remarkable performances we've witnessed tonight," he said.

This year's festival holds profound significance as it marked a central part of Curro's 25th-anniversary celebrations. Since striking a positive note with its inaugural event in 2014 during the unveiling of Curro Durbanville Primary School’s auditorium, the Choir Festival has evolved into an eagerly anticipated annual tradition. Each year’s showcase has been a testament to the unyielding dedication to musical excellence at the independent school group.

The success of the festival can be attributed to the determined efforts of the choir directors, and music teachers who worked diligently to ensure a seamless and memorable experience. Their commitment to nurturing and showcasing the musical talents of some of the Western Cape's Curro schools was evident in every note.
