Cycle2Ride is an initiative joined by Curro that aims to promote cycling as a medium for family cohesion, relaxation, fun, and possible career choice for those truly interested in becoming professional athletes. Through this initiative, we introduce young learners (and their parents) to their first cycling classes and provide families with the opportunity to spend time together.
What do we offer?
At Curro, we value the importance of a healthy lifestyle and cohesive family life. Cycling is one of the few sports that allow friends and family members to actively join in the fun. Therefore, we provide biannual coaching clinics from beginner to advanced levels – at schools with high numbers of interest – as well as fun events and expeditions that allow families to participate together. Parents and learners don’t necessarily need any cycling experience or career aspirations to join Cycle2Ride – it’s all about having fun.
Beyond coaching and fun events, we provide more advanced support to members who have career aspirations or already are established athletes. Our performance centre provides specialised offerings at an additional cost. Offerings include guidance on equipment and setup, tailored training programmes aimed at meeting specific goals, and access to online coaches and Biokineticists.
Furthermore, we aim to support local community upliftment by teaching skills needed to become bicycle technicians according to global standards, as well as to build and maintain mountain bike (MTB) trails in the country.
Which cycling events do we host?
We offer two event types throughout the year: MyRide events and countryside expeditions.
Three MyRide events take place consecutively on the same day at a designated school’s campus. Each cycling event is aimed at a different audience and slight adjustments are made to the specially-built course to create an appropriate challenge for the cyclists. Entry fees may apply.
These cycling days often serve as fun market days or open days for the school involved, adding to the enjoyment and relaxation of the day.

Our countryside expeditions allow families to spend a weekend exploring nature and discovering beautiful places in our country such as Prince Albert and Bethlehem. More information will follow on these expeditions in due time.
How do I become a member?
To join Cycle2Ride, learners from 7 years and their parents can sign up at a reasonable annual fee. For families of four or more members would receive a 15% saving on their total membership fee – and moms join for free! Membership fees are R500 per person, per annum. Membership enrolments will open on 1 March 2020.
Help us determine the interest at your school or area by completing this quick form – no obligations implied.
How will becoming a member benefit me?
Parents and learners who join Cycle2Ride can expect the following:
Members automatically stand a chance to win a sponsored team-entry to one of the following MTB events in the country:
Only members older than 18 years will be considered for the draw. Other terms and conditions may apply.
How do we support local skills development?
Cycle2Ride, Curro and Grit Procurement have partnered up to invest in the development and maintenance of the country’s mountain bike trails. Rather than simply providing funds, we will teach interested locals the skills needed to build and maintain mountain bike trails in the country. In addition, identified individuals will also undergo vocational training to become bicycle technicians according to global standards and potentially operate a co-owned cycling shop.
