Foundation phase: Grade R
Grade R is the bridge from the tangible world to the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1. Therefore, we focus on an integrated play-based programme that aims to develop the children’s phonological, literacy, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills in a fun way. Children are also introduced to Robotics through play with Duplo Lego. These activities form the important early foundations for later Robotics studies and greatly help to strengthen gross- and fine motor skills.
In Grade 1 to Grade 3 we focus on teaching the basic skills, concepts and knowledge required for further learning. We offer a vibrant, invitational atmosphere where learners enjoy coming to school and where they acquire a love for learning that will sustain them throughout their school years. We also create opportunities for personal growth so that learners can become personally responsible and accountable for their actions in the intermediate phase.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 6 (and Grade 7)
In these grades, the emphasis is still on establishing basic foundations, but learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. We prepare learners for high school by teaching them how to apply the skills and concepts they have learned. We also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging children to make their own choices within well-established boundaries.
Learners use e-books on tablets rather than physical textbooks. Through innovative technology and teaching methods, our teachers are able to provide learners with additional explanatory material and other creative, helpful resources.
