Welcome to

Curro Roodeplaat

Curro Roodeplaat is an independent school in Kameeldrift, Pretoria that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 12. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals. Our dedicated teachers and well-rounded approach prepare learners for either the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12, or the DHET National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Level 2 to Level 4 examinations.

Our nursery school, Curro Castle Roodeplaat, offers an integrated play-based programme to learners from 3 years to 5 years. View their webpage to see how we apply our internally-developed programme to support your child’s early learning and development goals.

What do we offer?

At Curro Roodeplaat, we balance academic excellence with sports and cultural well-being, thereby ensuring that learners develop into well-rounded individuals. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills to prepare them for the workplace of the future. Therefore, our classrooms and facilities are fitted with state-of-the-art tools and learners may choose to use e-learning devices in the classrooms, rather than textbooks, from the intermediate phase onwards.

Our dedicated teachers give learners personal attention in the classroom, which helps to ensure that they achieve to the best of their abilities.

We also offer NCV programmes

In addition to preparing for the IEB exam in Grade 12, learners with a Grade 9 pass may choose to follow a career-focused matric through NCV programmes that allows them to specialise from a young age. NCV programmes prepare learners for the workplace or tertiary studies within their chosen field, giving them a head start in life.

What is NCV?

The National Certificate Vocational (NCV) is a high-standard, skills-focused qualification that runs parallel to the National Senior Certificate (NSC). Instead of Grades 10, 11 and 12, learners complete NCV Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4. An NCV Level 4 qualification is on the same NQF level as a Grade 12 certificate.

This career-focused matric qualification allows learners with a Grade 9 pass to choose from various industry-specific programmes, thereby specialising in their field of interest from a young age. Upon completion of each level, learners receive a DHET qualification which is endorsed by Umalusi.

Which activities do we offer?

We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being of learners. Therefore, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities, including Curro Create programmes, aimed at helping learners discover their inherent talents and broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in the school fees.

How do we use technology in the classroom?

At Curro Roodeplaat, we embrace 21st-century learning by using e-learning devices in the classroom from intermediate phase onwards. Rather than heavy textbooks, learners use software to view and study from an e-book, which also allows them to collaborate easily and securely with teachers and peers.
