Curro Jewel City
Curro Jewel City is an innovative, technologically-advanced school located in the Maboneng Precinct of Johannesburg’s CBD. We offer a technology-rich, STEAMD-focused approach to high school learners, as well as a digital-centric learning environment for primary school learners who follow an online learning model where classes are held through live lessons with teachers. Our unique combination of e-learning models focuses on 21st-century skills that prepare learners for the fourth industrial revolution.
What do we offer in primary school?
At Curro Jewel City, our primary school learners can now enjoy uninterrupted online learning within our school’s fully-equipped learning space. By following Curro Online’s learning model, learners have live lessons with teachers and access online learning material. They follow Curro Online’s timetable within a school environment, which means they benefit from our facilities, equipment, activities, and in-class learning coaches.
What do we offer in high school?
As Curro Jewel City utilises the DigiEd approach in high school, our teaching method centres around the use of technology. Learners watch instructional videos rather than read purely from textbooks, receive multimedia-based material, and have access to remote tutor assistance via the Internet. With a great focus on 21st-century skills and preparing learners for the fourth industrial revolution, we offer advanced Technology, Science, and Mathematics, as well as a coding and Robotics programme. Learners are prepared to write the NSC (National Senior Certificate) examinations at the end of Grade 12.
How do we use technology in the classroom?
Our school relies heavily on the use of technology. Primary school learners use our state-of-the-art computer equipment to access their online learning material and attend scheduled live lessons with teachers. By following our DigiEd approach, high school learners watch instructional videos and receive multimedia-based material with teachers and tutors ready to assist or explain. By greatly relying on technology in the classroom, we provide learners with 21st-century skills that prepare them for the fourth industrial revolution.
Our high school learners have no homework
Our longer school hours and no homework policy accommodate the schedules of working parents by removing the pressure of managing heavy loads of homework. This forms a great part of our DigiEd approach. Learners can be dropped off early in the morning (from 06:30) when parents are on their way to work and picked up well after office hours (until 17:00).
