What do we offer?
At Curro Academy Protea Glen, we offer a high-quality curriculum at affordable school fees, along with a variety of activities and subjects. Our small class sizes allow our learners to receive personal attention in the classroom, which helps to ensure that they reach their full potential. We also have additional academic extension sessions in the afternoons to help learners who are struggling.
Our enhanced curriculum incorporates a project-based learning approach, while our dedicated teachers and recreational activities involving parents and the community, aim to make learning a fun experience. Although teaching takes place in English, we offer isiZulu as a language option in all phases in order to meet the needs of our community.
Which activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence. Many of our activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in the school fees.
How do we make going to school fun for learners?
Children learn best in a supportive environment where learning is fun and interesting rather than stressful. Our carefully-designed classrooms, engaging teaching methods, and approach to positive discipline allow learners to enjoy attending school. As a result, learners actively engage in teaching during class time, and learning is made fun without compromising academic standards.
We removed the mindset that school grounds are meant only for serious learning, by regularly hosting fun events that often involve parents and our greater community. Such events include family fun days, dress-up days, informative career days, and a visit to our classrooms from Santa Claus during the festive season.
When children experience the learned material, they remember and understand it better than when simply memorising it. Therefore, we try to create opportunities for learners to interact with the work in a manner that would make it real for them, rather than simply theoretical. Last year, our learners even started working on their very own vegetable garden on the campus.
